Frank Runyeon Presents the Gospel of Mark:  Hollywood actor and Catholic Frank Runyeon (starred opposite Meg Ryan on CBS) will be at St. Michael’s on Thursday, February 2nd at 7:00 p.m. to present “Afraid: The Gospel of Mark.”  AFRAID! is a one-man play, staged with dramatic lighting and audience interaction. Its text is the Gospel of Mark, translated into contemporary American speech.  As characters, settings and shadows shift, the Gospel engages the audience's imaginations, surprises them with flashes of humor, and drives relentlessly forward with all the dramatic suspense you would expect from great theater.  AFRAID! is an effort to help those in the audience have that encounter by doing exactly what the evangelist Mark did: by telling the story in the present tense, here and now, from beginning to end, in everyday language.  Join us and bring a friend!

Women’s Group – All ladies of the parish are invited to join us on Sunday, February 12th for prayer and scripture sharing at 7:00 p.m. in the Faith Formation Center.  Have you been looking for a time where you can get away for just a little while and talk about matters of everyday life and faith with others?  We this is that chance!  Join us!

Question of the Week for the 3rd Sunday of Ordinary Time:

Question for Children: What do you think it was like for the people in today's Gospel to be called by Jesus? What did they have to give up in order to follow him?

Question for Youth: At the start of Jesus' ministry, Jesus invites people to "believe in the Good News." What are some ways that you could be more open to the truth and challenge contained within the Gospels?

Question for Adults: If someone asked you, "To what work has Jesus called you?" how would you answer?

Pope Benedict XVI's Prayer Intentions for January 2012

General Intention: Victims of Natural Disasters. That the victims of natural disasters may receive the spiritual and material comfort they need to rebuild their lives.

Missionary Intention: Dedication to Peace. That the dedication of Christians to peace may bear witness to the name of Christ before all men and women of good will.
